Job Description
Team Leader Auahatanga (Tūranga Central Library) E ngā iwi, e ngā karangatanga huri noa i te motu, tēnei te mihi atu ki a koutou katoa. He īnoi tēnei ki a koe. Tūranga serves a wide and diverse city, and the people who work here play a key role in how Christchurch accesses information, culture and opportunity. Christchurch City Libraries is a city-wide network delivering inclusive, public library services that respond to a fast-changing urban environment. About the team | Ko te rōpū nei This role is focused on leading the Auahatanga | Creativity 4th floor. The Auahatanga Team Leader also works closely with the Tūranga Manager and fellow Team Leader colleagues to provide leadership and guidance for kaimahi across the entire building. Our Auahatanga Librarians support customers accessing fiction, world languages, large print, and graphic novel collections. Auahatanga specialist staff operate a well-resourced media studio, as well as a production studio featuring a laser cutter, vinyl printer, sewing and embroidery machines, an A/V scanner, media conversion station, acrylic bender, and a range of other creative resources. About the role | Ko te mahi nei This role provides people leadership and operational oversight. You will be responsible for the delivery of services by your team, while also sharing responsibility for the smooth and effective operation of the wider facility. You'll set direction, manage performance and support staff development so the team can meet both individual goals and organisational priorities.
This includes:
coaching and mentoring staff building team engagement ensuring clear and effective communication within your team and across the library network and Council This also includes leading and contributing to service planning, projects and improvements. Your work will be informed by customer feedback, operational data and emerging trends in libraries, technology and public service.You will:
manage day-to-day operations within budget ensure resources are fit for purpose work closely with Programme, Facility and Content colleagues to deliver services, events and collections that meet community needs. You will also model culturally responsive practice, support the library's responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and ensure the library remains a welcoming and safe space for everyone. This includes stepping in to support staff with complex customer enquiries and unpredictable situations, as well as working evenings and weekends as required. About you | Ko Koe Tēnei You're an experienced library professional with a solid background in people leadership and public service delivery.
