Hours:
35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm with expected breaks. Some evening or weekend work around events
About NECC:
At the North East Community Center we work to advance the well-being of all people in our rural region by responding to their diverse needs through services, programs, and partnerships. Headquartered in Millerton, NY, NECC serves Dutchess County by making opportunities and support available to all our residents through programs and partnerships. We see our work bring neighbors together and build connections that lead to positive change in the towns and villages we serve. Focus areas include Youth, Seniors, Food Access, Case Management, Transportation, and the Farmer's Market, among other critical services for our area residents.
Primary Role:
One way NECC funds its work is through charitable donations from individuals and private foundations. The Development Associate will help grow and steward these relationships. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves the operational side of fundraising — clean data, thoughtful donor communications, smooth events — and wants to see the direct impact of their work on a community. The role partners closely with the Executive Director and Fundraising Committee to identify and cultivate prospective donors, steward and acknowledge current donors, run fundraising campaigns, manage the donor database and software platform, and execute flawless events.
Responsibilities:
Donor Operations and Data:
Own the donor database: gift entry, record accuracy, segmentation, and reporting Generate timely acknowledgment letters, IRS receipts, and donor correspondence Run regular reports and analyses to help the ED, Board, and Fundraising Committee understand the current status and future opportunities Highlight opportunities for ED and Board to cultivate major gifts from current or new donors
Fundraising:
Plan and execute quarterly fundraising campaigns via mail, email, and social media. Set goal to improve YOY performance, execute each campaign flawlessly, and report results with an eye towards ongoing improvement Chef & Farmer Brunch (lead support). This event attracts more than 400 attendees each year and represents a sizeable effort and focus. The Associate will participate actively in planning and coordinating the roll-out of this event and will continually seek opportunities to maximize revenue from the event (sponsorships, attendance, auctions, paddle raise, etc.) Support smaller cultivation and thank you events throughout the year
Team and Committee Support:
Manage agenda for Fundraising Committee meetings; track decisions and follow-ups Build and maintain the Development work plan with the ED Communicate regularly with the ED and committee chairs
Organizational Responsibilities:
Participate in required staff and team meetings Follow all NECC policies and procedures Maintain regular attendance
Required Skills and Behaviors:
A curious, engaged, self-starter who operates with the highest integrity and confidentiality Strong attention to detail and record-keeping Good writing skills, including thank-you letters, sponsor pitches, etc. Positive attitude with donors, volunteers, board members, staff, families we serve
Adaptable Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree Record of success in a role that required creativity, collaboration, and attention to detail Hands-on experience managing a database Strong project management skills with a track record of hitting deadlines
Preferred:
Spanish proficiency Hands-on experience with donor CRM (e.g., Bloomerang) Experience supporting an event in a professional setting
ADA Requirements:
Ability to lift a 50-pound box Ability to walk up and down stairs
