We offer after-school art classes, summer camps, workshops, and community programs that encourage curiosity, confidence, creativity, and environmental stewardship. Position Overview Wild Roots Studio is seeking a creative, dependable, and enthusiastic Lead Nature Art Teacher to join our growing team for planning and teaching after school programs and art workshops. This position begins at approximately five hours per week with the opportunity to grow into a Studio Coordinator role as enrollment and programming expand. We are looking for someone who enjoys inspiring children through art and nature while also helping build a thriving, mission-driven educational program. The ideal candidate is equally excited to plan and teach engaging nature-based art experiences and support the organization behind successful after-school classes and summer camps.
Responsibilities:
Teaching & Curriculum Teach or assist with after-school classes, summer camps, workshops, and special events. Plan and teach engaging, process-based nature art lessons for children. Help develop seasonal after-school art classes and summer camp curriculum. Prepare lesson plans, supplies, and learning materials. Support Wild Roots Youth Mentorship Program Create welcoming, inclusive, and inspiring learning environments. Foster creativity, curiosity, confidence, and environmental stewardship. Support positive classroom management using encouraging, child-centered approaches. Program Preparation & Operations Prepare classrooms and outdoor learning spaces. Organize art materials, tools, and camp supplies. Assist with registrations and participant records. Respond to parent communication as needed. Assist with marketing events and community outreach.
Future Growth Opportunities:
As the organization grows, this position may expand to include: Studio coordination and daily operations Managing after-school and summer camp programming Parent communication and customer service Colorado child care licensing and compliance for school-age programs and summer camps Preparing for licensing visits and maintaining required documentation Community partnerships and volunteer coordination Scholarship and nonprofit program support through our partner
Wholesome Generations Ideal Candidate:
We're looking for someone who: Has experience teaching art to children in engaging and creative ways. Enjoys planning hands-on, nature-inspired art lessons and seasonal camp activities. Has a passion for nature, environmental education, outdoor learning, and fostering children's connection with the natural world. Is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities. Communicates warmly and professionally with children, families, and staff. Takes initiative and enjoys helping build and improve programs. Is excited to grow into a leadership role as Wild Roots Studio expands.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching art, environmental education, outdoor education, or elementary education. Experience planning and leading camps, enrichment classes, or youth programs. Knowledge of Colorado school-age child care or summer camp licensing requirements, or a willingness to learn and help oversee licensing compliance. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Experience working collaboratively with a small, mission-driven team.
Schedule:
Be available to teach after school art workshops Tuesday
  • Thursday 3pm
  • 5:30pm Be able to attend planning sessions and meetings each month.
These can be scheduled around your availability.
Compensation:
Starting wage of $18
  • 20 per hour, depending on experience.
This position offers opportunities for increased hours, expanded leadership responsibilities, and higher compensation as the role grows. The position will begin as a 1099 independent contractor during the school year, with the opportunity to transition to a W-2 employee position as the program expands and the candidate becomes a long-term member of the Wild Roots Studio team.
