ANNOUNCEMENT

Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a part-time Sign Language Studies (SLS) Instructor. Your application will be placed in a pool for review as part-time teaching assignments become available.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Part-time/Adjunct faculty will be responsible for teaching the objectives for any courses assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Meets the minimum instructor requirements for any course assignment. Associate degree (minimum for most 100 level courses); Master's/Bachelor's preferred in Sign Language Studies/Interpreter or related field; Master's required for ASL courses (SLS 101, SLS 102 and SLS 203). Prefer deaf, hard of hearing or hearing individual with near native fluency in ASL with 2 years teaching experience. Two years of deaf-related experience. Illinois interpreter certification or recognized equivalent required for some courses. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers, applicable software, and Internet.

STARTING SALARY

Salary varies based on educational level and number of units taught.
