As a French Immersion Teacher, the educator will provide high-quality, communicative world language instruction to 5th Grade elementary students. As a French Reading Support teacher, the educator will provide targeted, data-driven literacy interventions, diagnostics, and support for students navigating French literacy (specifically tailored for French Immersion).Performance ResponsibilitiesAs Elementary French Teacher (0.6 FTE)
Instructional Delivery:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate French lessons aligned with the Massachusetts World Languages Curriculum Framework.
Communicative Approach:
Conduct classes primarily in the target language in an immersive classroom utilizing comprehensible input, Total Physical Response (TPR), and storytelling to build proficiency.
Cultural Competency:
Integrate cultural practices, products, and perspectives of the francophone world into daily instruction.
Classroom Management:
Establish a positive, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment conducive to language acquisition.
Assessment:
Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress in the three modes of communication: Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational.

As French Reading Support Teacher(0.4 FTE)
Targeted Intervention:
Provide direct, small-group reading intervention to students needing support in French literacy, focusing on phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Data & Diagnostics:
Administer and interpret French literacy diagnostic assessments to identify student needs, track progress, and drive instructional decisions.
Collaboration & Coaching:
Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate core instruction and implement tier-1 literacy strategies in French. Collaborate with the French Immersion Elementary reading support team.
Curriculum Alignment:
Align French literacy interventions with the districts science of reading initiatives, adapted for the linguistic structures of the French language.
Family Engagement:
