Job Description
Upper-Level Spanish Teacher (Grades 9-12) Academy of the Holy Angels Position Summary The Academy of the Holy Angels seeks a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Upper-Level Spanish Teacher to join our World Languages Department. The ideal candidate wil inspire students to achieve proficiency in the Spanish language while fostering an appreciation for Hispanic cultures. This educator will teach advanced Spanish courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment classes, and will collaborate with colleagues to support th mission and values of the Academy. Essential Responsibilities
- Teach upper-level Spanish courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Language and Culture and Dual Enrollment Spanish courses.
- Develop and implement engaging, rigorous lesson plans aligned with state standards, AP curriculum frameworks, and college-level expectations.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students while promoting academic excellence.
- Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment with effective classroom management practices.
- Encourage students to develop proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish while gaining an appreciation for the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding student achievement and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with members of the World Languages Department and other faculty to enhance curriculum, instruction, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Support the mission, philosophy, and Catholic values of the Academy of the Holy Angel while contributing positively to the school community. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, or a closely related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Spanish.
- Demonstrated experience teaching high school Spanish, with experience teaching AP Spanish and/or Dual Enrollment courses strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of second-language acquisition and best instructional practices.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, parents, and th broader school community.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and educational excellence. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing curriculum and preparing students for AP examinations and college-level coursework.
- Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities, cultural programs, or student organizations related to world languages.
