Saint Joseph's University Department of Biology has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. Professionals with experience and a passion for teaching at the undergraduate level will be given preference. Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct one or two courses each semester on an " as needed" basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening. Courses available for adjunct staffing may include: Non- Major courses: 1. Bio 160: Heredity and Evolution
- an introductory course in DNA, genetics and evolutionary principles. 2. Bio 161: The Human Organism
- an elementary course in basic principles of human anatomy, physiology, and genetics. 3. Bio 165: Exploring the Living World
- a lecture/Laboratory course covering the nature of science, cell biology and heredity, biodiversity, ecology, and human evolution and physiology 4.

With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools. SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional experience, and instructional background. Adjunct instructors are bound to the terms and conditions of employment at Saint Joseph's University, including but not limited to the Faculty Handbook. Provide support and guidance to students Instruct an assigned course, providing syllabi and other instructional materials Use of university learning management systems to deliver instruction Develop and deliver instructional materials such as lectures, lab activities, and assessments Hold regular office hours to support students Create, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, lab reports, and exams Maintain accurate records of student progress in the courseMinimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Biology or a closely related field required (Ph.D. preferred) Prior teaching experience at the college level strongly preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to effectively explain complex concepts to students Strong organizational and classroom management skills Physical and Other Requirements May require standing for long periods of time May require talking for long periods of time May require carrying course materialsModality:
