Part Time Competitive Head Coach for

Gymnastics Competitive Programs Function:

The Competitive Head Coach primarily provides leadership for the Competitive Gymnastics Program including participant and community relations; instructing participants, ensuring safety, and overseeing instructors/coaches and volunteers. This position is directly responsible for all office duties, parent communication, budget reports and secondarily other related gymnastics programs.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the design and oversight of all levels of training in the Competitive Gymnastics Program Set Gymnastics Competitive Programs performance goals and curriculum prepping the gymnasts to be successful for competitions Establish an environment that fosters positive team attitudes, encourages self-discipline, sportsmanship and responsibility Oversee competitive staff Have prompt attendance at all scheduled workouts and meets Registration for all competitions including deposits and balances as well as collaborating with Program Director to create season's competition schedule Head Coach is in charge of all "team travel" arrangements

• including but not limited to creating budget, itinerary, lodging and staff assignments The Head Coach is responsible for managing the competitive budget The Head Coach is responsible for ordering and maintaining team merchandise Assign necessary staff for all scheduled meets and practices Head Coach will have substitutes or other staffing solutions to replace ill or absent coaches Hold coach meetings on a regular basis Collaborate with Program Director to schedule all individual and team events for athletes at meets Attend various continuing education meetings, workshops, and seminars Work together with core staff on creating rotations and groupings Coordinating special events and securing parent and athlete volunteers Communication with parents•answering phone calls and emails Must be available evening and weekend hours Complete incident reports and follow up with Director for review Meet regularly with the Rec Instructor to discuss the development of the recreational program with focus on filtering the participants into the competitive program Collaborate with Program Director and Recreational Head instructor to plan special events Support gym organization and setting where equipment/mats should go Maintain facility cleanliness including all apparatuses, events and dressing rooms•vacuum, sweep, wipe down surfaces, pick up garbage etc.

Must be able to lift 50lb; physical activity involved in spotting and moving equipment

Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in coaching gymnastics. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Director, co-workers, parents and students. Licensing and/or

Certificates:

Experience and knowledge in coaching all levels of USA gymnastics, skills, and routines. USA Safety Certification, Safesport Training and U100 Fundamental Gymnastics Instructor Certification required. CPR and First Aid Certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent organizational skills and customer service experience Strong verbal and written communication skills Understanding of Daxko systems required within 8 weeks of hire Understanding of gymnastics Strong teaching background Ability to liaison with parents

YWCA Greenwich provides comprehensive direct services to victims of domestic and sexual violence through 24-hour hotlines, crisis intervention, counseling, court advocacy, and emergency sheltering. We added a Civil Legal Clinic and Financial Literacy Coaching to our array of free services to victims of domestic violence. In addition, the YWCA Greenwich provides prevention education through extensive training of key members of the community and age-appropriate domestic abuse prevention programs through the Greenwich Public Schools and independent schools. YWCA Greenwich has a nationally recognized swim team. The Dolphins, now in its 51th season with well over 200 swimmers, can point with pride to multiple USA Swimming recognition as a "Silver Medal" or "Bronze Medal" Club, placing the team in the top 4% nationally.
