In this role, you will lead basketball training sessions, organize team practices, and motivate players to develop their skills both on and off the court. Duties Plan and execute engaging basketball practices tailored to different age groups and skill levels Teach fundamental basketball techniques, strategies, and rules in a clear and motivating manner Lead team drills, scrimmages, and games to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill improvement Monitor player behavior to ensure a safe, respectful environment that encourages positive interactions Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding player progress and team updates Coordinate with other coaches for sports-specific training instruction in related activities such as cheerleading or martial arts Maintain equipment, organize practice schedules, and ensure adherence to safety protocols including AED operation and first aid readiness Requirements Prior experience working with children in sports or educational settings is highly preferred Knowledge of basketball rules, techniques, and coaching methods; experience coaching soccer or other team sports is a plus Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate young athletes and manage group dynamics effectively Strong communication skills for engaging with players, parents, and team staff clearly and positively Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, or willingness to obtain upon hire is required Background in sports coaching experience such as sports-specific training instruction or martial arts like karate or judo is advantageous Ability to teach physical education activities including climbing or cheerleading is desirable Enthusiasm for promoting health club activities or gym-based programs that support youth fitness and development
