Aquatics Swim Instructor

Aquatics Swim Instructor Responsible planning and teaching group, semi-private and private swim lessons for facility members and program participants. Instructs individuals or groups on proper swimming techniques and pool safety. Adapt teaching style to the age, experience and ability of the participant. Oversees, implements and follows emergency plans, including evacuation routes from the pool area. Dresses appropriately at all times, e.g. wears standard, conservative bathing attire, and is able to enter the water at any time to render assistance. Maintains records and reports for each class and/or participant; must properly complete and file records of activity for commission compensation. Makes sure the deck is kept free of debris, hazards and puddles and all equipment is properly stored. Reports specific circumstances or situations of concern to his/her supervisor. Communicate with participants to ensure they are aware of their progress. Greets members and guests in a friendly manner. Participates in regular in-service training and staff meetings. Completes his/her shift duties in accordance with the Club policy. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Lifeguard Certification or Fundamentals of YMCA Swim Lessons training or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor. CPR Certification and recent AED training are mandatory.
