Immediately Job Description High School Volleyball - Assistant Coach
Overview:
The Assistant Volleyball Coach at Danville Community School District will work closely with the Head Volleyball Coach to support the development and success of the high school volleyball program. This position requires a dedicated and knowledgeable individual with a passion for coaching, mentoring student-athletes, and contributing to the overall success of the team. The Assistant Volleyball Coach will assist in organizing and executing practices, implementing coaching strategies, and providing valuable support to the coaching staff.
Qualifications:
Valid Iowa Coaching License required Previous coaching experience (preferred, but not necessary), preferably at the high school level. Extensive knowledge of the game of volleyball and coaching techniques. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. Commitment to fostering a positive team culture and promoting sportsmanship.
Responsibilities:
Training and Skill Development:
Assist in planning and conducting effective and engaging practice sessions. Provide skill instruction and development for individual players and specific positions. Collaborate with the Head Coach to design and implement training programs that align with team goals.
Game Day Support:
Assist in game day preparations, including warm-ups, equipment setup, and player readiness. Support the Head Coach in making in-game decisions, substitutions, and strategy adjustments. Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to players during and after games.
Player Mentorship:
Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, promoting academic success, sportsmanship, and character development. Assist in creating a positive and inclusive team culture.
Recruitment and Retention:
Assist in recruiting and retaining talented student-athletes for the volleyball program.
Administrative Support:
Assist with administrative tasks, including coordinating team events, travel arrangements, and communication with parents. Help maintain accurate records of player attendance, performance, and other relevant information.
Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the Head Coach and other coaching staff to ensure a cohesive and unified coaching approach. Attend meetings and contribute to discussions related to team strategy and development.
