JOB OVERVIEW

The 8th Grade Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading the middle school boys basketball program in a manner that supports student-athlete development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development. The season begins in the third week of October and concludes in the third week of January. Practices are held after school on non-game days, with no practices scheduled on Wednesdays. The coach is responsible for preparing student-athletes for practices and competitions while providing a positive, safe, and developmentally appropriate athletic experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct organized, developmentally appropriate practices that teach basketball fundamentals, team concepts, game strategies, and proper techniques. Prepare and coach the team during scheduled competitions, including developing lineups and game plans, providing instruction and feedback, and promoting appropriate sportsmanship. Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, responsibility, effort, respect, character, and the overall growth of middle school student-athletes. Provide appropriate supervision and maintain a safe and supportive environment during practices, games, and other team activities while following District and school expectations for student participation and conduct. The mental demands, physical demands, and work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
