The Coach provides biblical leadership and spiritual guidance while helping establish a Christ-centered culture and environment for the team. The Coach is responsible for leading the team, serving as a positive role model, and teaching athletes sportsmanship, character, proper conduct, and the skills and strategies necessary to compete successfully. The Coach is expected to ensure that all aspects of the athletic program align with Metro Christian Academy's mission, vision, and values. This is a seasonal position. To be considered, candidates must have a minimum of two years previous coaching experience, required, and coaching in a Christian school environment, a plus.
REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or NFHSLearn.com First Aid, Health, and Safety Sports First Aid Concussion in Sports Sudden Cardiac Arrest Heat Illness Prevention
REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE AND COMMITMENTS
Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate Christian professionalism appropriate to Metro Christian Academy. Knowledge of and ability to uphold and to integrate Metro Christian Academy's Statement of Faith, mission, vision, motto, and ideal employee profile. Knowledge and understanding of the rules and regulations governing the sport. Knowledge of principles and practices of athletic programs and events. Knowledge of and ability to schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others. Knowledge and understanding of specific skills and strategies for the sport. Strong leadership skills to motivate and develop athletes.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to facilitate dispute resolution within the team structure to improve teamwork. Ability to communicate with other Coaches, players, parents, and organization members. Ability to help all players improve through practices and individual coaching. Ability to create a safe environment designed to keep athletes healthy and injury-free. Ability to actively listen and interpret information accurately and effectively. Ability to respond to and resolve conflicts in a calm and professional manner. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement athletic programs and events. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with students, parents, patrons and staff. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
