Girls Club Basketball Coach | 4th-8th Grade Oregon Top Prospects (OTP) Sherwood / Portland Metro, Oregon Part-Time | Seasonal Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer Coaching Opportunities About Oregon Top Prospects Oregon Top Prospects is a rapidly growing girls basketball program serving athletes throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. We are looking for outstanding coaches to lead and develop girls in 4th through 8th grade in the Sherwood and Portland Metro area. Our focus goes beyond simply winning games. We want to develop skilled, confident and competitive players while creating a positive culture and basketball community that athletes and families want to be part of. We are currently hiring for our Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer seasons . Coaches may be considered for one season or multiple seasons depending on availability, experience and program needs. What You'll Do Plan and lead organized, high-energy practices Teach basketball fundamentals, individual skills, team concepts and basketball IQ Coach games and tournaments throughout the season Help players develop confidence, competitiveness, decision-making and a deeper understanding of the game Create a positive, challenging and development-focused environment Build strong relationships with players and families Communicate professionally with parents, staff and other OTP coaches Represent Oregon Top Prospects positively on and off the court What We're Looking For The ideal OTP coach combines basketball knowledge with the ability to teach, communicate and connect with young athletes. We are looking for coaches who: Genuinely enjoy working with young athletes Are strong teachers and communicators Bring positive energy, enthusiasm and professionalism Can hold players accountable while coaching them constructively Understand the importance of fundamentals and long-term player development Create competitive environments without sacrificing player confidence or enjoyment Are dependable, prepared and organized Work well with other coaches and program leadership Put player development and team culture ahead of personal ego Preferred Qualifications Previous basketball coaching or playing experience Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals and player development Experience working with youth athletes We are open to first-year head coaches with the right basketball background, leadership skills and ability to connect with kids. Playing experience is valuable, but playing at a high level does not automatically make someone a great youth coach. For us, the ability to teach, communicate and build positive relationships with players is just as important as previous coaching experience. Requirements Availability for weekday evening practices and weekend games/tournaments Reliable transportation Strong communication and interpersonal skills Professional, dependable and organized Ability to successfully complete a background check Commitment to creating a safe, positive and development-focused environment for young athletes Seasons & Schedule OTP is currently hiring coaches for: Fall Winter Spring/Summer Coaches may apply for one season or multiple seasons. Typical responsibilities include weekday evening practices and weekend games or tournaments. Expected commitment is generally 6-12 hours per week , depending on the season, team schedule and tournament calendar. Some tournament weekends may require additional time for games and travel. Primary coaching opportunities are located in Sherwood and the Portland Metro area . Compensation $25-$35 per hour , depending on coaching experience, team assignment and responsibilities. Additional opportunities may be available for coaches interested in skills training, camps, clinics and expanded roles within Oregon Top Prospects. Travel reimbursement or stipends may be provided for approved out-of-area tournaments when applicable. Coaches who are a strong fit within the program may also have opportunities to coach across multiple seasons and take on expanded coaching or leadership roles. Why Coach With OTP?
