Friday Overview:
IDEA MCALLEN
is seeking a passionate and energetic Afterschool Dance and Cheer Instructor to lead our students in dynamic and engaging dance and cheerleading activities. The instructor will create a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where students can develop their skills, build confidence, and enjoy physical activity.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver dance and cheerleading lessons that are age-appropriate and cater to various skill levels. Teach fundamental techniques in dance styles and cheerleading. Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and self-esteem. Develop choreography for performances and coordinate participation in local events or competitions. Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by maintaining a clean and hazard-free environment. Provide feedback and support to help students improve their skills and achieve their personal goals. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about students' progress and any concerns. Collaborate with other instructors and staff to plan and organize showcases or recitals. Adhere to all school/organization policies and procedures, including those related to child protection and health and safety.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in dance and cheerleading instruction, with a strong portfolio of choreography. Knowledge of a variety of dance styles and cheerleading techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students of different ages and skill levels. Strong organizational and time-management skills. First Aid and CPR certification is preferred. Background check and clearances as required by the school/organization.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; Credit hours in College, a degree in Dance, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to conduct classes and demonstrate dance and cheerleading moves. Capable of standing for extended periods and engaging in physical activity.
