08/16/2027 About this opportunity: The Department of History has a tenure-track position in Social Studies Education available August 2027. Ball State Social Studies Education students are highly desired as classroom teachers. Employer will consider sponsorship. What you'll do and what you will bring:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in social studies methodologies, supervising student teachers, writing accreditation reports and supervising a degree option within the history department that involves interaction with other departments and programs and serves over 100 of our majors. Candidate must also have an active research agenda leading to product in the form of presentations, publications and the like.
Minimum Qualifications:
ABD in social studies education or related field; Ph. D. or Ed.

D. in social studies education or related field expected from an accredited college or university by August 2, 2027; must have active research agenda and record of effective teaching, including 24 months of experience teaching social studies at the middle or secondary school level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.

D. in social studies education or related field; teaching experience at the college or university level; interest in using digital approaches that help distill historical meaning from texts and artifacts and present historical analysis in a classroom setting; interest in civic engagement; and record of scholarship, including publication and/or presentation in primary area(s) of scholarship; record of service in relevant social studies/history and related associations; experience supervising student teachers; license to teach social studies or history at the secondary level; record of building successful partnerships with K-12 schools.
Required Certifications:
Must be able to meet the minimum standards for Indiana State teaching license.
