Job Description:

The Department of Political Science is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of International Relations, beginning August 2027. The position is open with regard to areas of expertise and theoretical approach. We value research across rationalist, psychological/cognitive, and ideational schools. We welcome applications from scholars who can contribute to research and teaching on international cooperation/governance regarding environmental issues, technology (including artificial intelligence), energy, and global security, as well as from scholars whose work builds on our strengths in foreign policy, conflict processes, domestic politics and IR. We have a preference for applicants who will advance our graduate research methods curriculum through causal inference, quantitative methods and/or qualitative methods. The typical teaching load for this position is two courses per semester. We are especially interested in applicants who view teaching and research as areas to promote diversity and perspectives that are underrepresented in higher education.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D in Political Science, or related field by August 16, 2027

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to teach courses focused on foreign policy, conflict processes, domestic politics and IR. (Can be demonstrated by coursework or a field exam). Experience teaching or mentoring students from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in higher education Ability to teach a graduate level course on research methods Please be advised that H1B visa sponsorship may not be available for this position.
