Elementary Instructional Coach (Grant Funded Position) Previously posted internally 2025-2026School Year Position Summary:
The Elementary Instructional Coach is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the school's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), with a primary focus on literacy instruction and intervention systems. This position provides instructional leadership and coaching to staff to ensure that instructional practices and intervention supports are aligned with district expectations and evidence-based practices. The Elementary Instructional Coach collaborates with teachers, interventionists, and school leadership to ensure that instructional and intervention decisions are data-driven and responsive to student needs. This role supports the implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions with fidelity and ensures alignment with Tier 1 core instruction. The coach facilitates the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) process, monitors the effectiveness of interventions, and builds staff capacity through coaching, collaboration, and professional learning. The Elementary Instructional Coach works with school and district leadership to identify and remove barriers, strengthen systems of support, and promote the sustainability of MTSS practices.Reports to:

Per the CEA Teaching Contract Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the school's MTSS framework, emphasizing literacy instruction and intervention systems. Support teachers in implementing evidence-based instructional strategies aligned with Tier 1 core instruction. Collaborate with staff to ensure intervention decisions are data-driven and responsive to student needs. Design, coordinate, and monitor Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions to ensure supports are timely, targeted, and implemented with fidelity. Facilitate the MDT process, including coordinating meetings, reviewing student data, and supporting intervention planning and progress monitoring. Support staff in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting student data to guide instructional decisions. Provide instructional coaching and professional learning to strengthen staff instructional practices and intervention strategies. Monitor intervention and MTSS system implementation and provide feedback to staff and administration. Collaborate with leadership to identify and remove barriers that impact effective MTSS implementation. Build staff capacity through modeling, collaboration, and ongoing professional support related to literacy instruction and intervention. Ensure alignment between core instruction, intervention supports, and district curriculum expectations. Maintain appropriate documentation for interventions, student progress monitoring, and MDT processes. Perform other duties as assigned by administration.Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education required; Master's Degree in literacy/reading, education, or related field preferred.Certification:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with one or more of the following endorsements: Reading Specialist (BR) Reading (BT) Language Arts (BX) English (BA)Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience with documented literacy growth. Previous instructional coaching experience preferred.Professional Development:
Training in Adaptive Schools and Cognitive Coaching preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Deep expertise in the Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy practices. Strong knowledge of MTSS frameworks and tiered intervention systems. Proficiency in screening and progress monitoring data systems. Advanced data analysis skills for guiding instructional and intervention decisions. Skilled in meeting facilitation and systems coaching. Strong instructional coaching skills, including modeling, co-teaching, providing feedback, and reflective dialogue. Ability to conduct and analyze fidelity measures to ensure interventions are implemented with quality. Knowledge of diagnostic assessments and ability to make instructional adaptations. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to navigate complex systems while maintaining a learner-centered focus. Compliance Requirements Active member of the school's Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.Must satisfactorily pass:
