Ponte Vedra Ballet is seeking an accomplished and engaging Advanced Youth Ballet Instructor to teach students progressing into the upper levels of their classical ballet training. This position is designed for an instructor with strong knowledge of classical ballet technique and demonstrated success teaching intermediate and advanced youth dancers. The ideal candidate combines high technical standards with clear, constructive instruction and understands how to challenge developing dancers while maintaining an encouraging, disciplined, and age-appropriate classroom environment. The instructor will work within Ponte Vedra Ballet's established program and collaborate with fellow faculty to provide students with consistent, progressive training. Responsibilities Teach intermediate and advanced ballet classes for youth dancers. Deliver technically accurate instruction in barre, center work, adagio, pirouettes, allegro, and other age- and level-appropriate classical ballet vocabulary. Develop students' placement, alignment, coordination, strength, flexibility, musicality, artistry, and movement quality. Introduce and advance technical material according to students' physical and developmental readiness. Provide clear, specific, constructive corrections that students can understand and apply. Maintain appropriately high expectations while creating a respectful and encouraging classroom environment. Adapt instruction when students within a class demonstrate different technical strengths or learning needs. Observe students carefully for unsafe movement patterns and reinforce technically sound movement habits. Prepare classes that are purposeful, appropriately sequenced, and consistent with the studio's curriculum and training objectives. Collaborate professionally with other faculty to support continuity between levels. Communicate student progress or concerns to studio leadership when appropriate. Prepare students for performances, demonstrations, evaluations, or other studio activities as assigned. Begin and end classes on time and maintain reliable attendance. Follow Ponte Vedra Ballet policies regarding student safety, professional conduct, communication, and boundaries. Required Qualifications Significant training in classical ballet. Strong command of classical ballet vocabulary, technique, musicality, and class construction. Demonstrated experience teaching intermediate and/or advanced youth ballet students. Ability to identify and safely correct technical issues involving alignment, placement, turnout, coordination, and movement mechanics. Understanding of appropriate technical progression for adolescent dancers. Ability to demonstrate, explain, and communicate movement concepts effectively. Strong classroom-management skills and the ability to maintain a focused learning environment without relying on intimidation or excessive rigidity. Ability to provide individualized corrections while maintaining the pace and structure of a group class. Reliable, punctual, prepared, and professional. Ability to work collaboratively within an established studio curriculum and faculty structure. Appropriate professional boundaries when working with minors. Preferred Qualifications Advanced training through a recognized ballet school, conservatory, university dance program, professional company, or equivalent intensive training. Professional or pre-professional performing experience. Several years of experience teaching intermediate or advanced youth ballet. Experience preparing students for pointe work, variations, auditions, summer intensives, or pre-professional training. Knowledge of established classical ballet methodologies or syllabi. Experience teaching pointe, pre-pointe, variations, conditioning, or supplemental technique classes. Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification. What Success Looks Like A successful Advanced Youth Ballet Instructor will produce progress rather than simply deliver difficult classes . Over time, students should demonstrate stronger placement and alignment, greater technical consistency, improved musicality and artistry, increased movement vocabulary, and the ability to understand and independently apply corrections. Just as importantly, students should develop the discipline, confidence, resilience, and self-awareness necessary for increasingly advanced ballet training. The instructor should contribute to a program in which students can move successfully between faculty members and levels because expectations, terminology, and technical priorities remain coherent across the school. Ideal Candidate The strongest candidate is a teacher who can be both demanding and constructive . They understand that advanced youth training requires more than demonstrating sophisticated combinations. They can diagnose why a student is struggling, communicate an actionable correction, select exercises that address the underlying problem, and determine when a dancer is physically and technically ready to progress. They take ballet seriously without losing sight of the fact that they are teaching developing young people. They also value collaboration.
