A Driving Instructor is responsible for teaching students the rules of the road and the safe way to handle an automobile or motorcycle. This may involve both classroom and/or behind the wheel instruction. They are required to remain up to date with their regional and national traffic laws to insure proper curriculum and demonstration. Some inform their students on the process to obtain a valid driver's license in their region or nation.
Reach Academy Christian School - Plano, TX Position Summary Reach Academy Christian School is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic Part-Time Afterschool Teacher to supervise students during our afterschool program. This position includes safely transporting students from their schools to Reach Academy, providing a structured and engaging afterschool environment, assisting with homework, leading activities, and ensuring students are safe until parent pickup. Essential ResponsibilitiesStudent Transportation Safely drive the Reach Academy school vehicle to pick up students from local public and private schools. Follow established transportation routes and schedules. Ensure students enter and exit the vehicle safely. Conduct vehicle safety inspections before and after each route. Maintain accurate attendance and transportation records. Immediately report any transportation concerns or incidents. Student Supervision Welcome students and create a safe, positive, and Christ-centered environment. Supervise students during homework time, indoor and outdoor play, snack, and enrichment activities. Assist students with homework and academic assignments as needed. Maintain appropriate discipline using positive behavior management techniques. Build positive relationships with students and families. Program Responsibilities Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities. Monitor student safety at all times. Help prepare and clean activity areas each day. Maintain a clean, organized classroom and common areas. Communicate professionally with parents during student pickup. Support Reach Academy's mission, values, and Christian philosophy. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience working with children in a school, daycare, church, camp, or similar setting preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record. Comfortable driving a school van or passenger vehicle (training provided if needed). Ability to pass a criminal background check. CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Dependable, punctual, organized, and patient. Strong communication and classroom management skills. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to supervise children both indoors and outdoors. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and actively participate in student activities. Ability to safely operate a school vehicle. Schedule Monday-Friday 2:00 PM-7:00 PM Approximately 25 hours per week Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience. Paid training.
