- DFPI The Department of Financial Protection & Innovation (DFPI) under the Consumer Financial Protection (CFP) Division is seeking to hire a motivated, detail oriented, student worker with strong interpersonal skills student assistant to work as the direct support to California's first Student Loan Servicing Ombudsperson and the Student Loan Program.
- DFPI Conditions of Employment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position.
- Friday, between 8 AM
- 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday
- Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Student Loan Servicing Ombudsperson:
Screen and assess student loan borrower inquiries. Communicate with borrowers via email, phone or in-person to triage concerns, provide appropriate guidance, and share relevant resources. Assist in coordinating, planning and preparing for outreach events and the development of outreach materials. Support the tracking of complaint data and help maintain program reports. Prepare, assemble, and generate forms, reports, correspondence, and other documents. Develop a variety of documents for program and administrative purposes. Coordinate with staff across other Department programs to support shared initiatives. Conduct research related to state laws, the federal Higher Education Act (HEA), and other relevant student loan borrower and consumer protection statutes. Other assignments consistent with the goals and objectives of the projects to which student(s) are assigned, and in support of the mission of the Department. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
