SUMMARY:
The Middle School Principal serves as the instructional leader of the school and collaborates with building and district staff to implement curriculum and instructional programs that support learning opportunities for all students. At Anoka Middle School for the Arts, an exemplary academic community, the principal ensures that learning in and through the arts leads to high school success for all students. Anoka Middle School for the Arts is a Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD) specialty/magnet school.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The principal is responsible for: Monitoring and supervising instruction and supporting teachers in improving their instructional practice. Leading a continuous improvement process by using multiple sources of student data to set goals, monitor progress, and adjust instructional practices. Partnering with staff to analyze achievement, growth, and engagement data to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. Establishing clear systems for progress monitoring and accountability aligned to school and district priorities. Creating a community of continuous learning for all staff and students. Designing and sustaining a professional learning system that includes collaborative team structures (PLCs), ongoing professional development, and instructional coaching. Building staff capacity through job-embedded learning focused on high-quality instruction, assessment practices, and student engagement. Developing teacher leadership and shared responsibility for student learning across teams and departments. Fostering a culture of high expectations for all students. Building strong partnerships with families and the community and creating a safe, supportive school climate. Ensuring the effective implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to address the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students. Leading teams in using data to identify students in need of additional support and monitor the impact of targeted interventions. Aligning intervention systems across both campuses to ensure consistency, access, and effectiveness. Managing operational, technical, and staff systems to promote instructional progress across two campuses: Washington (grade 6) and Fred Moore (grades 7–8). Overseeing the development and management of the school budget to align resources with instructional priorities and student needs. Allocating staffing, time, and materials strategically to support school improvement goals and equitable outcomes. Monitoring resource use to ensure efficiency, transparency, and alignment with district expectations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
License:
Current Minnesota K–12 Principal License required.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of K–12 educational leadership experience required, including demonstrated results in improving student academic performance. School-based administrative experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Collaboration:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and the community.
Diversity:
Successful experience working with diverse student populations.
Change Management:
Demonstrated success in leading and implementing educational change.
Preferred:
Experience or strong background in arts-integrated education and/or magnet school leadership.
Salary:
