Job Description

Athletics Coordinator Overview Holy Cross Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated, organized, and mission-driven Athletics Coordinator to support the successful operation and continued development of our interscholastic athletic program. The Athletics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of athletics, including scheduling, eligibility and compliance, game-day operations, communication, equipment and facility coordination, and support for coaches and student-athletes. The position may also include coaching responsibilities based on the candidate's experience and the needs of the school. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relational, dependable, and passionate about developing student-athletes within a Catholic educational environment. This individual should be able to balance the many logistical demands of school athletics while helping create a culture characterized by Faith, Virtue, and Excellence. Responsibilities Coordinate athletic schedules for practices, games, tournaments, facilities, officials, transportation, and other athletic events. Maintain accurate athletic calendars and communicate schedules, changes, and event information to coaches, students, families, staff, and opposing schools. Coordinate TAPPS compliance, including eligibility, required documentation, deadlines, rosters, and other association requirements. Maintain team information, schedules, scores, rosters, and statistics through MaxPreps and other required platforms. Support coaches in the organization and operation of their respective programs and help ensure consistency with school expectations. Assist school leadership with the recruitment, onboarding, coordination, and evaluation of coaches. Coordinate game-day operations, including facility preparation, officials, gate/concessions needs, scorekeeping, security, volunteers, and other event personnel. Maintain athletic equipment, uniforms, inventories, and replacement schedules and coordinate purchasing as authorized. Assist with development and monitoring of athletic budgets and expenditures. Coordinate use and maintenance of athletic facilities in collaboration with school operations personnel. Monitor student-athlete eligibility, participation requirements, physicals, and required documentation. Promote student participation in athletics and help identify opportunities to strengthen existing programs and responsibly expand athletic offerings. Support the development of a positive athletic culture emphasizing discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, accountability, academic achievement, and character. Build positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, parents, officials, opposing schools, and community partners. Assist with athletic communications, recognition, promotion, and community engagement. Ensure appropriate safety procedures and protocols are followed during practices, competitions, and athletic events. Attend athletic contests and school events as necessary, including evening and weekend activities. Coach one or more sports when appropriate based on experience and school needs. Perform other athletic and school-related duties assigned by the Head of School or administrative team.
Experience Required:
Previous experience in school athletics as a coach, athletic administrator, coordinator, teacher, or comparable role. Demonstrated ability to organize multiple activities, schedules, events, and responsibilities simultaneously. Experience working effectively with middle school or high school students. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, families, and students.
Preferred:
Three or more years of successful coaching, athletic administration, or related school-based experience. Experience coordinating multiple athletic programs or athletic events. Experience in a private, independent, Christian, or Catholic school environment. Experience with TAPPS or another interscholastic athletic association. Experience with athletic scheduling, eligibility, game management, equipment management, budgeting, or transportation. Head coaching or assistant athletic administration experience.
Education / Certification
Bachelor's degree required. Degree in education, kinesiology, sports management, athletic administration, or a related field preferred. Valid teaching certification preferred, particularly if teaching responsibilities are assigned. Master's degree preferred but not required. Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) credential preferred but not required. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain upon employment. Valid driver's license required; CDL certification preferred or willingness to obtain if necessary. Special Knowledge and Skills Working knowledge of TAPPS rules and regulations affecting boys' and girls' interscholastic athletics, or the ability to quickly develop proficiency. Familiarity with relevant Texas Education Agency requirements applicable to student-athletes and school athletic programs. Knowledge of or willingness to become proficient with MaxPreps and other athletic management platforms. Strong organizational, scheduling, recordkeeping, and technology skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and respond effectively when schedules or circumstances change. Strong judgment and ability to resolve routine problems independently while recognizing when administrative involvement is necessary. Ability to communicate professionally with students, parents, coaches, officials, and outside organizations. Understanding of appropriate safety, risk-management, and student-supervision practices. Ability to support coaches while maintaining schoolwide standards and expectations. The Athletics Coordinator is expected to support the Catholic identity of the school and help ensure that athletic programs develop students not only as competitors, but as young men and women of faith, virtue, discipline, service, and excellence. The successful candidate will understand that winning matters, but that the ultimate purpose of Catholic school athletics is the formation of the whole student.
Pay:
$18,000.00 - $20,000.00 per year
