Yavneh Day School in Los Gatos is looking for educators to join our team for the 26-27 school year.
Job Overview:
Yavneh Day School is seeking Elementary School teacher(s) (sub and/or maternity leave cover) to inspire our students and lead them through a successful school year. Our English Speaking teachers work in close collaboration with their Hebrew speaking teacher counterparts to provide instruction in: English only, Hebrew only, and following a dual language model. We are a Jewish Day School but we also value diversity amongst our faculty, staff and student population and do not require that teaching candidates be bilingual or identify as Jewish. Yavneh is seeking a passionate educator who is driven and intrinsically motivated to stop at nothing to ensure their students are succeeding. We strongly value the methodologies of student agency, voice & choice. Ideal candidates will have experience with using Project Based Learning and other student-centered learning modalities.
About Yavneh:
Yavneh Day School, an egalitarian Jewish Community Day School located in Los Gatos, Ca. We strive to develop the whole child focusing on a solid academic foundation, social emotional development and instilling a love of Judaism with our students. Our community is strong and we are looking for teaching candidates to help bolster our already strong and close-knit community. Although we are a Jewish Day School, we are an inclusive community and welcome non-Jewish students and faculty alike.
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Teach:
    reading, writing, math, social studies and some science (in collaboration with our STEAM director/teacher)
  • Use data to help inform instruction
  • Regular and ongoing communication with families as to students strengths and needs
  • Provide timely feedback to students
  • Attends and participates in weekly faculty meetings
  • Commitment to life-long learning and continually finding ways to improve your craft as a teacher.
  • Supervision duties
  • Create a positive and warm classroom environment following Responsive Classroom program
  • Attend school events outside of the school day as they pertain to school programming and admissions events.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Masters preferred).
  • Experience classroom teaching experience.
  • Collaborative team player
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching using Project Based Learning, Design Thinking and other current pedagogical best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and school administration.
  • Passion for bettering the lives of students.
Compensation:
  • Salary is commensurate with years of experience.
  • Full time employees are also eligible for tuition discounts for their students of 50%
  • Retirement contributions begin after 1st year of service (1000 hours minimum)
  • Free Membership to the Los Gatos JCC.
  • Jewish and Secular holidays are paid days off.
