Job Description

THE NATIVITY SCHOOL JOB OPENING HISTORY
The Nativity School is located in the heart of Rancho Santa Fe and opened its doors in September 1996 as an integral part of the Church of the Nativity. We are dedicated to providing a challenging educational environment, as well as developing character development and decision making skills nurtured in our Catholic values. A differentiated approach to education is the foundation that cultivates the intellect and promotes the sound spiritual, social, emotional and physical growth of our students. MISSION The Nativity School is a ministry of the Church of the Nativity, where the love of Jesus Christ and Catholic educational tradition guide the formation of students' minds, bodies and souls to their full potential through spiritual direction, academic growth and Christian service.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nativity School is looking for an elementary teacher to work with students in a PS-8 Catholic school setting. Subjects to be taught are language arts, social studies, math and religion, with homeroom teacher responsibilities. The teaching position will begin August 5. 2025 SALARY/COMPENSATION Full-time, exempt, benefits Salary commensurate with experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
Construct lessons to develop differentiated instruction in academically diverse classrooms Use multiple teaching strategies to support and differentiate instruction Support the Catholic faith development of all students development in cross-curricular instruction Use frequent formative feedback and assessments to communicate student progress Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies Collaborate with teaching team to coordinate instruction and discuss student progress Maintain accurate student records and grades in an organized manner Maintain a neat and orderly classroom environment Complete lesson plans and unit planning throughout the school year Provide grade appropriate enrichment and remediation as needed Provide proper student supervision Keep open lines of communication with parents Attend a number of all school functions Meet all deadlines set by administration Any additional duties identified by the principal
QUALIFICATIONS
Leadership skills including visioning, coaching, facilitation, active listening and use of data to make informed decisions Ability to prioritize resources for continuous improvement Understanding of state and Diocesan core standards and school wide student learning expectations Understanding of curriculum mapping and learning outcomes Knowledge of current educational research, components of elementary programming and best practices for instruction Necessary background and training in elementary educational methods and subject areas Understanding of child development and skills necessary to relate to the students Appropriate control and discipline techniques, which will enhance the learning environment Ability to work successfully with teachers in the development and occasional revision of PK-8 science programming Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to develop effective working relationships Broad knowledge of school science curriculum and technology integration Knowledge of student assessment and grading Knowledge of program evaluation The ability to work within the basic tenets of the Catholic faith Good computer skills.
WORK EXPERIENCE
At least three years of classroom teaching experience Bachelor's Degree or higher Multiple or single subject teaching credential Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the parish/school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
