An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities Develop and deliver dynamic, curriculum-aligned lessons across core subjects such as literacy, math, science, and social studies, incorporating modern learning technology and instructional design principles. Utilize assessment-driven instruction by analyzing student performance data to tailor interventions and support academic growth. Implement classroom management techniques to foster a respectful, safe, and engaging learning environment conducive to active participation. Collaborate with colleagues on lesson planning, curriculum development, and integrating special education strategies to meet diverse student needs. Conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor progress, inform instruction, and provide constructive feedback to students and parents. Apply knowledge of childhood development, behavior management, conflict resolution, and Montessori or other pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement. Support students with disabilities or special needs through targeted academic interventions within multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). Requirements Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field; additional certification in early childhood education or special education is preferred. Proven classroom experience teaching elementary school students with a strong emphasis on math, literacy education, and physical education. Familiarity with online systems for grading, attendance, behavior, communication, etc. Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities or special needs; familiarity with educational compliance regulations is essential. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, parents, and students' families. Demonstrated ability to analyze student performance data for quantitative evaluation of progress and instructional planning. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere. Strong organizational skills with the ability to design engaging lessons that incorporate learning technology and instructional design principles.
