Teacher, full time Position Details Copper Island Academy is seeking a highly effective Elementary Teacher to join our outstanding educational team. Do you embody the Finnish concept of "sisu"? We are seeking a passionate and innovative Elementary Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting student independence, incorporating hands-on learning experiences, and instilling joy in the classroom, aligning with our mission of holistic student development.Duties:
Promoting Student Independence:
Foster a culture of autonomy and self-reliance by providing opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning. Implement strategies that empower students to set goals, manage their time effectively, and reflect on their progress.Incorporating Hands-On and Outdoor Learning :
Design and implement engaging, hands-on and outdoor activities that cater to diverse learning styles and promote deep understanding of concepts. Integrate inquiry-based learning approaches to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Instilling Joy inLearning:
Create a positive and welcoming classroom environment. Infuse lessons with elements of joy, humor, and enthusiasm to foster a love for learning among students.Assessment and Feedback:
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Provide constructive feedback to students that fosters growth mindset and encourages continuous improvement.Parent and Community Engagement:
Establish open communication with parents, keeping them informed about student progress, upcoming events, and ways to support learning at home. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to enhance the educational experience for students.Professional Growth and Collaboration:
Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education. Collaborate with colleagues to share ideas, resources, and strategies for improving teaching and learning.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field. Valid teaching certification for elementary education. Proven experience teaching elementary grades, demonstrating a strong understanding of child development and differentiated instruction. Familiarity with Finnish education practices and a commitment to integrating them into daily instruction. Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills. Enthusiasm for creating a positive, joy-filled learning environment.Company Benefits:
