REPORTS TO

: Principal and/or other Supervisor Preferred candidates with a passion to develop social/emotional skills, language development and exposure, while also facilitiating learning through play. Preferred candidates will work with administrator and colleagues to develop STEM based lessons that are developmentally appropriate for the early childhood level. Candidates will teach through exploration of not only STEM activities, but also through nature centered activities.

Responsibilities:

Implement district curriculum. Design activities that engage children in active learning. Actively engage in professional development activities. Use a variety of different educational techniques (for example storytelling, playing games, media presentations etc.) for instruction. Facilitate development of children's social skills, self-esteem, self-regulation and academics. Inspire children to communicate with each other in a friendly and positive manner Facilitate positive conflict resolution. Supervise students during classroom instructional activities, meals, recess, snack time and rest time. Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information. Evaluate students' academic, communication, and social growth. Keep appropriate records for progress monitoring and complete the district preschool assessment (Desired Results Developmental Profile) twice yearly. Ensure a safe and orderly learning environment. Collaborate with other teachers, paraprofessionals and administration. Directly supervise a classroom aide/paraprofessional. Collaborate with special education staff to support students with IEPs to address individual needs. Participate in required meetings, committees and school activities. Adhere with all relevant health and safety standards and policies of the Jefferson City Public Schools.

Job Requirements:

Minimum of bachelor's degree in education. Current Early Childhood Teacher Certification (B-3) In-depth knowledge of child development and latest education theories and practices Must enjoy working with children Creative teaching abilities Patience and flexibility. Believe in positive behavior supports for student success. Possess outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
