An Elementary School Teacher teaches elementary school students, usually children ages 5 - 11 who are in kindergarten through fifth or sixth grade, in a public or private school. Teaches all subjects, including reading, writing, math, social studies and science, to one class throughout the school year. Plans curriculum and assesses student progress, manages student behavior and communicates with school parents. May specialize in teaching music, art or physical education, or teach students that are learning English, or work with students with learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral disorders.

Job Description

A GCS Teacher serves as an integral member of the Geneseo CSD team, supporting the district's mission to provide a

safe, inclusive, and high-quality educational environment. This position requires commitment to excellence,

collaboration, and continuous improvement in service of student success.

Major Responsibilities:

Design and facilitate engaging, hands-on STEAM-based projects that build and strengthen students' skills in

science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Partner with classroom teachers to plan and support Project-Based Learning experiences that connect directly to

classroom curriculum and instructional goals.

Perform duties aligned with district goals, policies, and New York State regulations.

Support and promote a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for students, staff, and families.

Implement and/or support high-quality instructional practices that actively engage students, foster curiosity and

creativity, and develop future-ready skills.

Utilize data, feedback, and professional judgment to inform decision-making and improve outcomes.

Collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, families, and community stakeholders.

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting as required.

Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

Other Responsibilities:

Participate in professional development and training opportunities.

Attend meetings, events, and activities as required or assigned.

Contribute to school/district initiatives, committees, or improvement efforts.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including students, families, and staff.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

Job Qualifications

Requirements:

New York State teaching certification .

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
