Adjunct Faculty (Non-Credit) Essex County College - 4.0 Newark, NJ Job Details $30 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications Writing skills Bachelor's degree Working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds Training Adult learning Full Job Description Position Details Position Information Position Title Adjunct Faculty (Non-Credit) Reports To Director Functions and Responsibilities Job Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Adult Learning Center or designee, the Teacher Advisor will instruct in basic skills and workforce readiness areas, and assist with assessment and other activities leading to the overall academic, growth and development of students.

Supervisory Role Duties & Responsibilities 1. Provide instruction to ABE , ESL and/or GED along with job search skills. 2. Evaluate students' performance in accordance with established procedures and recommend program exit or continuation. 3. Apply principles of effective human relations, learning styles and cognitive development as they relate to the overall growth and development of students. 4. Consult with other professional staff to address issues and procedures for instructing and counseling students. 5. Resolve academic problems and is available for consultation at scheduled times. 6. Administer pre and post-tests as well as informal assessments to evaluate student progress and to incorporate individualized instruction or other academic support. 7. Participate in staff activities for in-service training and professional development. 8. Maintain, record, and report student daily or weekly attendance. 9. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of staff and student records. 10. Perform other related duties as required. Physical Requirements Additional Requirements Minimum Qualifications Minimum Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. One or more year's experience teaching at the developmental or remedial level, tutoring or training in projects for persons or groups of persons with needs similar to those served by the ABE program. 3. Excellent interpersonal skills. 4. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 5. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. 6. Ability to utilize varied teaching methodologies that are most appropriate for adult students Minimum Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities 1. Masters in Teaching ( MAT ) 2. Demonstrated knowledge of testing materials, procedures, and evaluation. 3. Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of learning styles, cognitive development and psycholinguistics as they relate to basic skills attainment 4. Background in curriculum development.
