Job Description
Summary South Hills Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team as a full-time English Language Arts and Reading teacher for 6th grade. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their reading and writing skills while fostering a love for literature and critical thinking. This position requires a commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all students. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes literacy and language skills. Create lesson plans that are engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the varying needs of students. Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, and provide constructive feedback. Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect for diverse perspectives. Integrate technology and multimedia resources into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and trends in English Language Arts. Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to support school initiatives and enhance student learning. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance. Requirements Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts for middle school. Proven experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle school level is highly desirable. Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and instructional strategies. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance student learning. Commitment to fostering a growth mindset and encouraging student engagement. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community. All recommendations for hire are tentative offers.
