THE COLLEGE
- John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice.
POSITION OVERVIEW
- The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at John Jay College-CUNY seeks an instructor at the rank of Doctoral Lecturer with experience teaching Spanish for heritage learners.
QUALIFICATIONS
- By the date of appointment, applicants must possess a PhD degree in Spanish linguistics with a focus in Heritage learners or in a related discipline from a regionally accredited U.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS / PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications: three years of experience teaching Spanish for Heritage learners; experience using innovative teaching methods to effectively engage a diverse student body; experience in curriculum design; demonstrated ability to teach effectively in diverse modalities; experience and interest in developing internships, community outreach, and service learning.
COMPENSATION
- $62,241
- $97,487 ( _As of 9/1/2026 $64,419
- $100,899_ ). Salary commensurate with education and credentials.
