A Law Professor teaches national and regional legislative ideas and truths, as well as the methods used in practicing various forms of law to students through a combination of classroom instruction, field experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field. In some cases, law professors will perform legal services.

10/1/2026 12:00 AM Central Description The candidate can expect to teach a broad range of legal studies courses determined by the evolving needs of the department. Typical load is five classes each semester, five days a week with a possible combination of day and evening courses. Experience teaching diverse students at various levels of college-preparedness and non-traditional students as well as online teaching experience is highly desirable Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctor degree and at time of hiring, a licensed attorney. Be knowledgeable about the paralegal profession and committed to paralegal education and utilization. For Paralegal courses, previous experience working with or as a paralegal. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Commitment to teaching a student body diverse in ability, age, ethnicity, race, and sexual orientation. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Supplemental Information

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior college teaching/program coordinating experience in an American Bar Association approved Paralegal Program. Prior college teaching experience in Criminal Justice Systems. Prior experience in civil or criminal law. Teaching experience with a variety of delivery modes Experience teaching online is highly desirable Experience with academic outcomes assessment, data collection, and analysis. Experience with curricula development.
