Job Description
Part-time Library Clerk in our Circulation Department The Town of Cheshire seeks candidates to apply for the position of part-time Library Clerk in our Circulation Department. Cheshire (pop. 29,330) is a vibrant community located in the heart of Connecticut (2 hours to New York or Boston) and is well known for its excellent education system and exceptional quality of life. Join a dynamic team of customer service professionals who are dedicated to ensuring library patrons have a positive and welcoming experience when they visit. This front line position is primarily responsible for checking in and shelving materials, checking materials out to patrons and assisting them with their accounts, registering patrons for library cards, answering basic questions about library services, assessing patron's needs and referring them to the appropriate staff for help, and assisting with the setting up for library programs. The ideal candidate should have solid customer service skills and must be able to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly and courteous manner while juggling multiple priorities. Basic computer proficiency including email, web browsers, and word processing is required. Experience working in a library is a plus but not required. Knowledge of the Polaris integrated library system is a plus. Additionally, this position requires some physical work including lifting, bending and standing for extended periods.
