Job Summary
  • The FWS-Library Assistant provides essential support services to the South Georgia Technical College library staff and patrons, contributing to the efficient operation and welcoming atmosphere of the library. Job Responsibilities
  • Assist patrons with locating library materials, using computers, and accessing online resources.
  • Check in and check out library materials, including books, periodicals, and media.
  • Shelve returned materials accurately and maintain an organized collection.
  • Assist with processing new library materials, including labeling and covering.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, and data entry.
  • Maintain the neatness and orderliness of library common areas.
  • Assist with special projects and events as assigned by library staff.
  • Provide basic technical support for library computers and printers. Job Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a student at South Georgia Technical College and eligible for the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program.
  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and carry library materials (up to 20 pounds).
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Prior library experience is a plus, but not required.
