Job Summary Department Specific Responsibilities Works as part of the document delivery services team to provide efficient, timely interlibrary loan (ILL)/document delivery services (DDS) to Indiana University students, faculty, staff, and research associates located on the Bloomington campus and those living away from campus. Provides verification services for items requested and held on the Bloomington campus and elsewhere. Selects the appropriate provider for materials not held on the Bloomington campus and sends requests (via OCLC, email, web page, U.S. mail) for documents. Processes and notifies requestors of documents received; advises users of status or problems; and provides daily supervision of student assistants. Responsible for a specific function of the overall DDS/ILL service but is also responsible for working in any area of the Document Delivery Services Unit when needed. General Responsibilities Handles and monitors library materials, including reshelving, processing new material, restocking, and ensuring that all materials can be located quickly and easily. Evaluates condition of library materials and may perform repair and preservation of library materials, as needed. Assists faculty, students, and other patrons by answering phones and handling library-related issues, escalating complex issues to supervisor. Monitors library systems. Creates and updates basic records, maintains automated records, reviewing for completeness and accuracy. May assist with cataloging new items, performing audits of outstanding items, and/or interlibrary loan materials processing. May oversee library department desk and provide training and direction for student employees working the front desk. QualificationsEDUCATION
Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred Some experience in library or related field. Interlibrary loan borrowing experience with OCLC and ILLiad software. Supervisory experience, including hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating. SKILLS Required Proficient in English with written and verbal communication skills. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Extended visual exertion in computer use, back and neck exertion due to movement of heavy materials and computer use. Repeatedly move about the workspace to communicate with patrons and other library departments.
