  • Responsible for the overall school library functions including maintaining the library catalog; processing, circulating, and shelving books and various learning materials; stamping, labeling, mending, and cleaning library books and other learning resources; and assisting with regular inventories.
  • Assists with preparation of classroom materials and activities.
  • Works individually or in small groups of students to reinforce material
  • Aids individual children in need of special assistance.
  • Provides guidance and assistance to students in the selection of books and in using other library resources.
  • Adds library copies into a database utilizing the electronic library system.
  • Assists with presenting educational information to students
  • Aids students in accessing research materials to support units of study.
  • Assists in the selection and ordering of library materials.
  • Helps maintain an orderly and functional room environment conducive to learning.
  • May assist in coordinating events such as book fairs and planning activities that encourages and motivates students to read.
  • May read-aloud and provide book talks to groups of students
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Participates in professional development, when appropriate.
  • Establishes good relationships with students, faculty and administration
  • Ability to work with students one-to-one and in small groups to provide support, as needed
  • Supports and promotes a positive school culture by providing a warm, inviting, and structured environment where students feel safe, welcome, and aware of the expectations.
  • Perform circulation tasks such as charging, discharging, reserving, scheduling and delivering on library materials
  • Accurately maintains media files and records
  • Keeps the library collection orderly and inventories library materials
  • Assists with displays and other projects, as applicable
  • Assists with distributing overdue notices, letters to students, and lists of overdue books
  • Assists with other tasks as requested and implements policies developed by administration
