Job Description

Library Assistant- Reference, Northborough Free Library (Northborough)

The Town of Northborough seeks applicants for the part-time (19-hours per week) position of Library Assistant - Reference Services in the Northborough Free Library. This position is responsible for providing technical, research, and reader's advisory assistance at the Reference Desk, assists in developing and maintaining collection materials, assists with Adult programming, and provides administrative support to the Reference Librarian. Successful candidates will possess strong organizational skills, superior customer service skills, and the ability to interact with and instruct members of the general public. This position must be available to work Tuesday and Wednesday evenings as well as 2-3 Saturdays per month. The remaining work shifts are somewhat flexible, but generally include Fridays.

Qualifications

Requires an associate's degree or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of a public library. Must have strong customer service and reference skills, knowledge of adult literature and reference resources, and familiarity with library technology and applications. Full/Part Time
