Job Description

DISTRICT-WIDE LIBRARY CLERK - PART-TIME
Van Buren District Library (VBDL) is seeking an energetic, outgoing individual to join our team as a District-Wide Library Clerk . This is a part-time position (15-20 hours a week) with regular shifts at the Webster Memorial Branch and the potential to be assigned to other VBDL branches as needed, either as part of or in addition to the base hours. Responsibilities The District-Wide Library Clerk is a position of responsibility and requires someone who can work independently once library routines are learned. Training will be provided.
Duties may include:
Assisting library patrons in a friendly, professional manner Planning and conducting library events and classes Serving as a liaison with the community Staffing the library service desk Shelving and organizing library materials Using reference materials and library resources to assist patrons Some evening and Saturday hours are required . Qualifications High school diploma Desire to serve the public in a welcoming, professional manner Ability to learn standard library tasks and procedures Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public Physical Requirements Ability to read fine print with or without corrective lenses Ability to lift up to 30 pounds Ability to bend, twist, crouch, kneel Ability to shelve and retrieve library materials up to 90 inches in height Starting wage: $17.39 per hour How to Apply Please submit a completed VBDL employment application to: Chantelle Dowling Operations Manager cdowling@vbdl.org
