Position Summary The Full-time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library. This position specifically will serve as a member of the Information Services team, with duties on a Teen Services Desk and a Reference Desk. This position will work directly with the Teen Services team to provide a welcoming and learning environment for the Teen community.

Schedule:
Full-Time Benefit Eligible. Will be 40 hours per week, including one night a week and every third weekend. Essential Functions Promote the library's collection and services Perform circulation activities Provide service desk coverage Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer Provides research assistance to customers Utilize integrated library systems software Assisting customers at several service points Training and assisting customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes Assisting librarians with program delivery and outreach services Assisting with volunteer management Perform shelving and weeding duties
Minimum Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes Preferred Qualifications Experience working with teens/young adults Knowledge of integrated library systems software (
IE:
Polaris) Bilingual Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Alpha-numeric sorting systems Various library systems Telephone etiquette Skills Technology adeptness Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent time management skills with attention to detail
