PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide front office receptionist support while also assisting in the effective operation of the campus library. Responsibilities include managing attendance processes, supporting campus communication, and assisting students and staff with library services, materials, and resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED Associate degree or higher education coursework preferred Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate (may be obtained after hire, if required)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Proficient keyboarding, file maintenance, and data entry skills Ability to use personal computers and software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, databases) Strong customer service skills Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents
EXPERIENCE
Experience:
Experience in data entry, clerical, or campus office work preferred Experience working with school-age children and/or library systems preferred
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reception /
Attendance Duties:
Serve as front office receptionist, greeting visitors and assisting staff, students, and parents Collect and enter attendance data into the district system; verify accuracy Maintain physical and electronic attendance records, including student folders and rosters Prepare and generate attendance and campus reports as required Respond to parent, student, and staff inquiries regarding attendance Utilize district communication systems to notify parents of absences Report attendance concerns to campus administration Collaborate with district personnel regarding attendance and truancy issues Assist with general campus office operations as needed Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
Library Duties:
Assist with circulation procedures (check-in/check-out, holds, renewals, overdue notices) Support organization, processing, and maintenance of library materials Shelve books and maintain orderly library space Assist students and staff in locating and using library resources and equipment Help manage interlibrary loans and campus materials Assist with library programs, displays, and events (e.g., book fairs) Maintain accurate circulation and inventory records Support proper care, repair, and maintenance of library materials and equipment Supervise student aides and assist with coordinating volunteers as directed
General Responsibilities:
Comply with district and campus policies and procedures Maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and parents Effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May assist in supervising student aides and volunteers under the direction of the librarian No direct supervisory responsibilities for office functions
