TITLE:
Mathematics Teacher
REPORTS TO
Principal
JOB GOAL
To teach students so that they learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate for teaching in Mathematics, Grades 5-12.
  • Demonstrated success through completion of upper level math courses during training required (Number Theory, Geometry, Analysis, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Trigonometry.)
  • Ability to teach upper level math courses in practical and applied formats.
  • Show evidence of strong techniques and skills in teaching mathematics.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability providing intervention to students exhibiting a wide range of cognitive abilities and behaviors.
  • Any additional combination of training or experience which would lead to successful employment as a Mathematics Teacher.
  • Successful completion of interview and writing process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Implements his/her program of study.
  • Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Utilizes instructional management systems which increases student learning and maximizes time on task.
  • Ability to instruct students in mathematical applications on computers according to individualized student levels.
  • Monitors student progress toward learning outcomes.
  • Collaborates with other departments regarding use of the computer classroom.
  • Maintains and upgrades professional skills.
  • Maintains professional work habits.
  • Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
  • Performs other duties assigned by the Principal, Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.
