Job Summary:
Anticipated start date January 2027. Regular Faculty work under the direction of their respective Associate Dean/Division Dean and are responsible for meeting all scheduledclasses/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the College and the Department Chair'sapproved course outline. Regular Faculty are also responsible for using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varyingeducational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course. This positionmay require working in virtual, weekend, evening, or various campus locations. Successful candidate must be willing to teach concurrentenrollment both on PPSC campuses and in local area high schools. The required teaching schedule is January to May with the requiredpay schedule from January to August ($30,000/8). Beginning August 2027, the required teaching schedule is August to May with the requiredpay schedule from September to August ($60,000/12) and ongoing. Regular faculty shall be subject to a provisional period from the date offirst contract at the College until the completion of employment under three consecutive full-year, regular contracts. Provisional statusbegins August 2027.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Faculty/Student Interaction Demonstrates a commitmentto teaching. Uses appropriate and various teaching strategies. Uses flexible approaches in teaching for learning. Acknowledgesdifferences in learning styles and motivation. Encourages students to achieve goals. Relates coursework to real lifeexperiences. Maintains a positive and empathetic attitude towards students. Classroom Performance Organizes subject matter,course materials, and objectives. Communicates effectively. Maintains knowledge of and enthusiasm for both the subject matter andteaching. Demonstrates a positive attitude toward students. Materials and Preparation/Relevancy Maintains current and relevantsyllabus, following State guidelines when indicated. Reviews and updates course materials. Uses evaluation methods related to andappropriate for course content. Informs students in writing, of the objectives of the course content. Uses supplemental resources inaddition to textbook or other course materials. Participate in all aspects of department and/or college level assessment of studentlearning outcomes in general education and career/technical courses and programs as required. Record keeping and InstructionalManagement Keep scheduled office hours, including providing regular student office hours. Meets classes as scheduled forprescribed time. Submits required reports and documents. Attends required Divisional meetings. Professionalism Seeks tomaintain a high quality of instruction by remaining current on discipline specific and pedagogical issues. Collaborates with colleaguesin a professional manner. Uses communication techniques that foster collegiality when problem solving. Works to resolve conflicts inan atmosphere of mutual respect. Contributes to the promotion of an excellent educational climate within the college as a whole, as wellas within the division and department. Promoting Division/College Quality of Instruction Assist, as requested, with thedevelopment of the term class schedule and the college catalog. Assist with curriculum review, revision, development and implementationwithin the department. Assist in the development and maintenance of course outlines and course syllabi. Assist in textbook selectionand adoption. Assist with student advising and student registration. Maintain a program advisory committee, asappropriate. Participate in professional development activities as requested by the dean. Assist with program reviews as required byappropriate agencies, e.g., NCA. Professional Contributions Serve on college discipline, department, and community committees andtask forces on behalf of the college. Assist with Divisional activities as requested by the dean. Assist with student recruitment asappropriate. Assist with the development and implementation of alternative modes of instructional delivery, e.g., Internet or ITV, asappropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by the dean, the Vice President for Instructional Services and/or the CollegePresident. General Duties Cultural competence and commitment to helping to close the student equity gap at ourinstitution. Demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based, inclusive teaching strategies and curriculum development for the classroomenvironment. Demonstrates ability to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate teaching activities and curriculum. Demonstrates ability toemploy qualitative and quantitative analytical skills in the classroom. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communicationskills. Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate written student records as required by policy and procedure. Demonstrates ability toinform students of all course requirements. Demonstrates ability to evaluate students and offer feedback on a continuingbasis. Demonstrates ability to relate to student concerns and maintain open communication. Demonstrates ability to work effectivelywith diverse populations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Mathematics,OR a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematicsor a related STEM field with a strong emphasis on math One year of mathematics teaching experience at the secondary or collegelevel. Demonstrated ability to work with underrepresented populations in successful efforts to close the achievement gap.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, or Operations Research froma regionally accredited institution. Three or more years of teaching experience in post-secondary education. Demonstratedwillingness and ability to teach a wide range of courses. Preference will be given to candidates with a successful record of supportingstudent success in College Algebra and other entry-level mathematics courses through co-requisite support models andlaboratories. Experience teaching mathematics courses that support a variety of academic and career pathways, including alliedhealth, engineering, and other technical and transfer programs. Demonstrated experience using generative artificial intelligence(AI) and other emerging technologies to enhance student learning, engagement, differentiated instruction, assessment, and/or instructionalefficiency. Demonstrated experience participating in co-curricular activities that support student engagement, belonging, andacademic success. Demonstrated ability and/or experience with alternative delivery systems such as online classes and usingtechnology in the classroom (e.g., Desire2Learn, computer software applications). Demonstrated experience participating indepartment
  • and/or college-level assessment of student learning outcomes in general education and career/technical courses andprograms.
Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.
