POSITION DESCRIPTION

Teacher will, under supervision of the site administrator(s), perform a wide variety of specialized and responsible tasks including the implementation of the Culinary Arts curriculum (food preparation, service, and hospitality), facilitating student success in technical, academic and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate and teach Culinary Arts in a high school classroom setting with professional kitchen equipment, food beverage, and professional cookery, sanitation and professional Food Service Management. In addition, the teacher will be expected to be involved in career & technical student organization, fund raising, continuous school improvement activities, advisory committee meetings, and proactive professional development workshops and seminars. DUTIES

• E=Essential Duties Make the course relevant to the student and "real life" by using subject matter content, academics, and industry specifications E; coordinate with site administration E; select books and instructional aids to achieve instructional goals and behavioral objectives E; develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge pupils E; participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school and on the district level E; other responsibilities as detailed in the Albany Teacher Job Description E; other duties as assigned E; provide individual or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students and accommodates circumstances where a variety of projects are being worked on simultaneously E; establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions E; communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress E; participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities E; responsible for an instructional program budget that covers costs associated with curriculum and catering activities
