Essential Elements:
Print The primary responsibility of the Resource Specialist Teacher is to provide direct instruction to the students. The resource specialist teacher shares the responsibility as a member of the IEP team for coordination, consultation, and delivery of special education services to pupils in the local resource specialist program. This is accomplished by an active role in the identification, assessment, instructional planning and implementation process which is designed to take a pupil from referral to delivery of special education services. Instruction by the resource specialist teacher is defined as working with pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis for specified periods of time on goals and objectives described in the written Individualized Education Program (IEP). This help to be given either in the resource room, the regular classroom, or other appropriate setting.
