Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Christian Homeschool Middle School Learning Guide to inspire and support students through their educational journey. In this role, you will serve as a mentor, curriculum developer, and classroom facilitator, fostering a nurturing environment rooted in Christian values. Your primary goal will be to guide middle school students in their academic growth while integrating faith-based principles, ensuring each learner reaches their full potential. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives within a supportive homeschooling community. Our students are bright, curious, and increasingly independent—but they still need clear structure, consistent expectations, strong classroom management, and accountability as they learn to manage their own education. This is not a traditional lecture-all-day teaching position. NMS students learn through independent learning platforms, direct instruction, small-group support, projects, discussion, writing, and hands-on experiences. The Guide creates the structure that makes that learning successful. We are especially seeking someone who is strong in their Christian faith and comfortable with middle school mathematics, while being academically versatile enough to support ELA, social studies, science, and interdisciplinary learning. Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Leadership & Structure Develop and implement engaging, Christ-centered lesson plans aligned with personalized learning needs. Establish and consistently maintain classroom routines, expectations, boundaries, and consequences. Manage the daily schedule, transitions, independent work, small groups, and collaborative learning. Implement NMS discipline procedures consistently and professionally. Redirect off-task behavior quickly while maintaining positive student relationships. Teach students organization, time management, task initiation, perseverance, and accountability. Help students gradually develop the independence expected of successful high school students. Academic Support Provide individual and small-group instruction across grades 6-8. Provide strong support in middle school mathematics , including identifying foundational gaps, reteaching concepts, and building student confidence. Support ELA, writing, social studies, science, research, and interdisciplinary projects. Monitor learning platforms, assignments, assessments, and student progress data. Identify students who need intervention, additional practice, or greater accountability. Communicate academic or behavioral concerns proactively with NMS leadership. Maintain clear, professional communication with families regarding student progress. Collaborate with other NMS Guides to maintain consistent expectations and student support. Qualifications Experience working with middle school students in a school, homeschool, microschool, tutoring, or youth-development environment. Strong classroom and behavior-management skills. Excellent organization and time-management skills. Solid foundational math skills Strong reading, writing, and communication skills. Ability and willingness to support multiple academic subjects. Comfort with educational technology, learning platforms, and student data. Ability to balance positive relationships with clear expectations and accountability. Experience supporting students with learning differences, ADHD, executive-function challenges, IEPs, or 504 Plans is preferred. Bachelor's degree and previous instructional experience are preferred. Applicants do not need to be mathematics specialists, but they must be mathematically competent, Who Will Thrive in This Role? You know how to prompt, question, model, scaffold, and then gradually step away. Values accountability. You believe compassion and high expectations can—and should—exist together. Sees education as bigger than a textbook. You want students to become capable thinkers, communicators, problem-solvers, and increasingly independent young adults.
