Cape Elizabeth Middle School Cape Elizabeth Middle School is seeking dynamic teachers to join our incredible middle school community. We currently serve four grade levels, 5th-8th, and are split into three, two person teams at each grade level. We aim to hire candidates who are passionate about middle school education and have the experience, flexibility, and desire to teach across grade levels and content areas to best meet the needs of adolescent learners. For the 26-27 school year, our anticipated openings are in 7th grade science/math and 8th grade science/math. Candidates must be able to teach math through Algebra I and be able to teach a spiraling science curriculum that may include standards in life, physical, and earth sciences.
The ideal candidate will also:
Have or be able to acquire in the first two years of employment, current State of Maine certifications to teach a variety of grade levels between 5th-8th grade. Demonstrate a commitment to middle school philosophies of teaching and learning. Have experience using data driven instructional practices. Show a commitment to engaging students and deepening learning through project based/experiential learning approaches that cross content areas. Show a commitment to building relationships with students, families, and coworkers. Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Have the ability to incorporate content area literacy skills. Have a strong background and demonstrated capacity to differentiate for learners on all ends of the learning continuum. Have experience with and an interest in curriculum development. Have experience with PBIS Be committed to using trauma-informed approaches to support SEL and positive behavior, and be confident in their use of Tier 1 practices for effective classroom management. Have the ability to work well with and contribute to the effective functioning and growth of the small team, the grade-level team, and the school as a whole. Cape Elizabeth Middle School is a 5th-8th Grade School in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. We serve about 450 students who are passionate and eager learners. We believe deeply in middle level philosophies that identify the needs of young adolescents as being unique and sometimes different than those of younger children and older adolescents.
