Job Description

Join our unique outdoor nature and play based preschool. Seeking a team member who will to work along side others Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week for the 10 month school year starting August 25, 2026. Our team is skilled in early childhood education and environmental education and we seek a candidate with interests in the outdoors and being deeply engaged with young children. The days consist of rich play opportunities to explore and question. Strong emphases on social-emotional growth, the arts, as well as cognitive and physical growth for children aged 3-5 years. Responsibilities:
Work with preschool aged children in a beautiful natural outdoor setting of fields and woods, along with indoor classrooms, with an emphasis on hands-on-learning. Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and fellow staff members. Help maintain the health and safety of all students.
Qualifications:
We welcome talented, child-loving individuals who also focus their passions on fields such as the environment, nature guide/enthusiast, the arts or other creative pursuits! Passionate about working with children in a natural setting Experience with ages 3-6 years Candidate must be energetic and ready to have fun! Ability to enjoy the outdoors in all kinds of weather Ability to build rapport with children and collaborate with co-workers Positive, patient, and flexible demeanor CPR certification is ideal, though we will provide the CPR training if needed, as well as the DHHS required fingerprinting clearance. Engage in professional development trainings throughout the year. The ideal candidate has the ability to be open to the guidance of the experienced teachers . You will be eligible for an additional monthly state grant stipend income (amount of stipend is dictated by your level on Maine Roads to Quality). The play-based curriculum and nature education at Appletree is all about valuing wonder!
