This is a focused, consistent after-school assignment for someone who enjoys working with children and feels comfortable learning technology. You may teach the Wednesday club for students in Grades 3-5, the Thursday club for students in Grades K-2, or both days. Wize Computing Academy provides the curriculum, lesson materials, equipment and training. You do not need to be an advanced programmer. You do need to be dependable, engaging and willing to learn the tools used in each lesson. The weekday-afternoon schedule may work well around college classes or another part-time commitment. College enrollment is not required. What you'll do Arrive prepared and on time for your assigned weekly class Set up laptops, tablets, robotics kits and other lesson materials Guide elementary students through age-appropriate coding, robotics and game-design projects Explain technical ideas in simple, encouraging language Help students troubleshoot projects without completing the work for them Keep students engaged and maintain an organized classroom Use positive redirection and established procedures to address behavior Record attendance and submit a brief class report after each session Communicate equipment, safety or student concerns to the Wize program team Properly organize and secure classroom materials before leaving the campus What we're looking for You may be a strong fit if you: Enjoy teaching, mentoring or working with elementary-aged children Are comfortable using computers and learning unfamiliar software Can confidently lead a group while keeping the environment welcoming and structured Follow lesson plans while adjusting explanations for different learning needs Communicate clearly and respond reliably to the program team Can commit to the same assigned weekday throughout the program Experience in a classroom, camp, tutoring program, youth organization or childcare setting is helpful but not required. Helpful technical experience Familiarity with any of the following is a plus: Scratch or ScratchJr LEGO robotics Minecraft Education Roblox Studio Python Block-based programming Game design or 3D design Personal coding projects, coursework and independently developed games are welcome forms of experience. Training is provided on Wize Computing Academy curriculum and platforms. Required availability and screening Applicants must: Be available every Wednesday and/or Thursday from approximately 2:45-4:00 PM Have reliable transportation to Barksdale Elementary School in Plano Pass the background screening required for work on a Plano ISD campus Be comfortable supervising and interacting with children Complete required onboarding and curriculum training Maintain reliable attendance for the full program term Compensation and support $45-$50 per session Prepared curriculum, lesson plans and teaching materials Access to Wize Computing Academy technology and robotics equipment Ongoing instructional support from the program team Wize Computing Academy, operated by Lawrence Venture Group LLC, helps children become creators of technology through hands-on coding, robotics, game design and artificial intelligence experiences.
