Montrose County Historical Society Position:
Museum Programming Coordinator Pay Range:
Flexible, Monthly This position requires a desire to become knowledgeable about museum operations, educational programming for children and adults, and public history theory. The retired museum programming coordinator will train the applicant in education programs, including guiding tours and hosting field trips. Responsibilities include the development and maintenance of exhibitions on-site and off-site, processing research requests submitted to the museum, initiating primary source research, and writing for both general and professional audiences. The position requires a person who is comfortable working with or learning about multiple computer programs. Museum operating hours are 10 am to 5 pm May 1st through September 30th, with extended hours for events, projects, and programming. As part of the museum team, the coordinator staffs the museum desk and gift shop daily and provides staff for special events. This position includes supervision of volunteers and part-time staff on specific projects and provides MOD (manager on duty) reporting to the board of directors.
